I’ve been a little slow on this blog and PSLegends lately. It’s mostly due to working retail and dealing with the holiday rush. Now that things are starting to slow down again, I’m back to focusing on writing. I have several works in progress at the moment, alongside future improvements for my content.
2023 was a pretty wild ride, with me moving across the country and practically starting another life. Now that I have a good groove with my day job, you can expect to see many more posts on this blog or PSLegends. Here is what's coming in this month and the rest of 2024.
Things Coming in January
Since my personal blog gets the short end of the stick whenever I do have time to write, I have shifted some of my recent focus to finishing up edits for a few reviews, experimental fiction pieces, and some indie reviews. My long-term goal is to cover 50 games this year, which is mighty ambitious.
To reach this goal, I’m writing one indie review a week for three weeks out of a month. These reviews will focus on short and interesting games from various developers that I happen across. Games like La Obscura and [I] Doesn't Exist were great to play and quick to cover without feeling like I had to rush and sacrifice quality for completion's sake.
For the last week of the month, I’ll post some more experimental works. Here, you can expect fiction chapters from works that I chip away at whenever I get the itch for it. Most of these works are dark or horror-related, so if that’s your bag, you’ll have a little treat waiting for you at the end of every month this year.
Ultimately, 2024 is going to be this blog’s busiest year. Here’s to hoping that my writing gets better and some indie developers get a little more attention for their passion projects.
Later This Year: Video Reviews
For about a decade, I have had a few attempts at creating my own video-game-related videos. Of course, each attempt ended up in flames, but I never stopped trying to learn from my mistakes and failures.
After watching hundreds of different creators and assisting some friends with their own content, I am very excited to say that I will finally be creating my own videos. The goal is to implement video reviews alongside a written one sometime later this year and see how well things go.
Since it’s still early in conception for these videos, I wouldn’t expect them until a little deeper into the year. I still have quite a lot to learn about creating videos, so it’s going to be a lot of trial and error, alongside some awfully awkward first few videos.
But hey, if you got the itch to watch a mid-20s guy anxiously talk about video games for a few minutes, stay posted.
Upcoming WIPs
Just like my game backlog, I have a ton of unfinished writing works that I haven’t even started editing yet. Here is a quick breakdown of (nearly) everything almost ready for publication:
PSLegends
- Elden Ring: Ultimate Beginner’s Guide: I’ve been stuck on this guide for quite a bit. I just haven’t had much time to sit down and finish this since the holiday retail rush.
- Elden Ring DLC Coverage: This is just a WIP for when the DLC gets announced. I’m excited to tear through new areas and learn its secrets to share with you all.
- Various Elden Ring Guides: These guides will focus on how-to's for grabbing achievements, endings, and other goals players may have.
Greysyns
- The Observer Review: I finished this a while back, I just never got around to editing it. I also still haven’t fully confirmed which website this is going to be published on. For now, I’ll just assume it’s going here.
- Final Fantasy 1 Review: I bought the pixel remaster since I love the series. After the winter sale, I now own a bunch of the Final Fantasy series and I will be reviewing them throughout the year.
- The Roottrees are Dead Review: This is a fantastic game that I found on Itch.io a while back. It’s a mystery game that requires you to dig through a fictional family timeline to figure out who’s the heir to the family company.
Those are the works that I’ll be pushing out first and so many more are to come. As long as my day job doesn’t get too demanding, I’ll be able to stick to a much more consistent posting schedule than last year.
Another Year of Games and Writing
My blog is still very small and I’m just a guy with some spare time. I love writing about games and this site has been good for keeping me motivated, especially whenever some of my posts get some sort of attention or feedback. It still amazes me that some of my posts actually got read last year.
I met some great developers and played some awesome games in 2023. I’m very excited to enter the new year knowing that even more games and people are out there waiting to be found.
If you found my blog sometime last year, or if I covered your game and you managed to read this, thank you. Some of the most exciting moments that came from this blog was sharing my ideas and thoughts with very talented game developers. I hope to provide usable feedback for both the creators of the games I review and curious gamers who stumble on this blog.
Here’s to another year of sharing my passion for games and writing with whoever wants to read my rambles.
Happy Gaming and Writing,
~Greysyns
